This section will give you way more information about Richard S. Thomas than you may want. First, he is the author of the Earther Wizard series. Second, he is no spring chicken. He’s seen a lot of water run under that bridge. His exact age is known only to a few, but when he was born, Harry S. Truman was president.

At the ripe old age of seventeen, he served his country by joining the US Navy. They told him “Join the navy, see the world”. They lied. All he saw was the coast of Viet Nam from the rail of the USS Truxton DLGN35.

As a young man he enjoyed youthful endeavors like skydiving, scuba diving, and hang gliding. Tragedy struck when Richard reached the age of twenty-seven and all his daring deeds came to a screeching halt. He fell in love and married the woman of his dreams. It’s hard to throw your body out of a perfectly good airplane when you have a wife and kids depending on you. It was a good move. He and Patricia are still married and enjoy two daughters, six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

He spent the next fifty years as a serious woodworker. His work has won numerous awards in prestigious competitions and appeared in woodworking magazines.

After his retirement, he taught woodworking and wood turning at a local community college for almost ten years. At the age of sixty, Richard built the house he lives in today.

When he started losing his eyesight to macular degeneration, he turned to a decades’ old dream of writing.

As a lifelong reader and big fan of first, science fiction, and then, fantasy, he has read most of the good stuff and knows what a book needs to hold the attention of the reader.

He has poured a lifetime of experience into his writing so that everyone who reads his books will be glad they did.
